random drawing

this video shows how i drew a random line. it is part of a project i do about randomness.

thats not randomness!, do you see how the start of the line starts at the middle of the sheet? then out of a "pure" probabilistic distribution you end at almost at the middle of the sheet of paper again? The more steps you use the more likely it is for you to end right where you started, since all outcomes are likely possible, so you deviation from the middle depends on the # of tosses.
I like the concept tho, try this source, this is the only true source of randomness, as you cant predict when an atom is gonna "zerfall" (dunno the word in english)

i would like to see a pictore made with some of this random data you can get form them! like a bmp that takes every 8 set of bits and makes a color of it and with a lot of bits you can make a picture! hope it helps :P

well you may be right to some point. but, i had to start somewhere. i chose to start at the middle of the sheet with the thought that you would see how many even and uneven numbers i diced. in this case it was about equal even and uneven numbers, but i did some more of these sheets and the outcome was very different. i had one sheet where the end of the line was so far down that it almost ran out of the sheet. so it's "random" that this sheet turned out like this. i couldn't predict where the line would end... but you're right, if i diced let's say a thousand times, the ratio of even and uneven numbers would be about 50:50.

why do you think that atomic decay is the only true source of randomness? can you predict which number a dice is gonna show after you threw it? can you predict how a glass is going to break if you drop it?

i somehow like the idea with the colored pixels... hm, have to think about it..
